One small to medium yellow or white onion is good in place of the four shallots

This recipe looks great & I’m definitely making it for Thanksgiving. However, you mentioned substituting a yellow or white onion for the shallots. If I do that, how much onion should I use? Thank you!

Love this recipe and have made it multiple times. This year I tweaked it by adding roughly chopped cooked chestnuts and it was delicious! You can get them in a jar at the grocery store.
