Begin by preparing your ingredients. Juice your lemons. I used a hand juicer to juice my six lemons (sliced in half) directly into the blender.
Next, peel all the ginger and chop it into small chunks.
Add the lemon juice, ginger, water and honey to a high-speed blender. Pulse until the ingredients are fully blended.
Use a strainer and cheesecloth to strain the substance into a container. Squeeze the cheesecloth so only dry ginger fiber remains. Discard that to the side and continue this process until all the liquid is double strained into a new container.
Use a mini funnel to pour two ounces of ginger shot into each bottle. Serve immediately or refrigerate.
Notes
More ingredients to add - You can add turmeric, cayenne pepper, apple cider vinegar or other fruit and vegetable juice to your shot for added benefits and flavor variations. You may also swap the water for coconut water for added electrolytes.
Time saving hack - If you want to save time, you may skip peeling the ginger and blend it without peeling. This is the most time consuming part of the recipe.
Don't have cheesecloth? If you don't have cheesecloth, you can use a clean cotton kitchen towel instead.
Vegan Option - For a vegan-friendly option, swap out the honey for maple syrup or agave.
