Ingredients

  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chili garlic sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • ½ teaspoon rice vinegar

Instructions

  • In a small mixing bowl, combine all ingredients.
  • Stir until the sugar fully dissolves.
  • Taste and add anything you feel the sauce needs.
  • You could also add some sesame seeds and chopped chives for additional texture or flavor.
  • Use this sauce right away or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for at least two weeks.

Notes

If you need a substitution for the soy sauce (to avoid gluten or for a lower sodium option), try coconut aminos, low-sodium soy sauce, or tamari.
If you want more heat, use more chili garlic sauce, add a little sriracha or sprinkle in some red pepper flakes.
You can substitute the brown sugar for granulated white sugar, honey, or maple syrup.
